OTHER ADVICE

Jobs in Corporate Finance

Because of the difficulty in obtaining entry level positions in corporate finance, finance majors should consider taking 12-15 credits of accounting. The accounting credits will qualify you for many of the job interviews on campus. Accounting courses will prove useful during your early career as you develop your financial skills.

Jobs in Investments and Financial Markets

Accounting is still useful if you are looking for a job in this area, but you have more flexibility in choosing courses to support your finance major.

Other important courses that will help you on the job market include computer science courses, language courses, speech and writing courses.

Minors

If you wish to pursue a minor, please obtain the information from the department from which you wish to earn a minor and then confer with your advisor in order to work out the details.
